Pollurin
a tidal lagoon
Pollurin in Saksun is a tidal lagoon that was once a natural harbour. However, a powerful storm eventually closed its entrance with sand, leaving only a narrow channel where seawater flows in and out with the tide. Small boats can enter at high tide, but at low tide, Pollurin becomes a vast stretch of sand.
Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and the historic village of Saksun, Pollurin is a breathtaking natural feature. When hiking in the area, please be mindful of the delicate natural environment—unique flowers here struggle to survive due to heavy foot traffic. Always walk on the sand and main road to help protect the landscape.
