The Village of Ljosa in the Faroe Islands has just fifteen houses, amazing views, breathtaking scenery, one restaurant, and many curious sheep. And the restaurant serves food like nowhere else in the Faroe Islands.

This family run restaurant & café offers you a wide selection of fresh, locally sourced dishes and beverages to fit any taste.

Dishes include the local specialty open-faced sandwiches, locally named “smyrjibreyð”, Faroese lamb, homemade burgers, and the popular ´Fish of the day´.

This cosy little full-service restaurant and café is located in the small village of Ljósá, near many of the most popular nature sights of the Faroe Islands. Rose’s is therefore the perfect place to relax or re-energize with a nice cup of coffee, or to visit for some great food after a day of exploring

“Cooking starts with the eyes, but in the end, it is about nourishing our bodies.
Healthy, delicious food is not an accident, it is a deliberate endeavour that guides me in my planning and executing my cooking.

From organic ingredients to low fat cooking flavoured with high quality spices and flavours, these are in integral part of the meals I prepare,” says Rose, the Chef Patron, who combines Faroese cooking traditions with her own background in Ethiopia, together with her experience in the Middle East, Far East, Africa, Europe and culinary school in United States.

Rose is an experienced character (you will know when you meet her). The islands inspire her, but also from her inspired culinary journeys, mastering her art in the Mediterranean, predominantly Cyprus, and graduating from Edmonds College in the USA. She is a highly rated and reviewed chef and host, providing a high level of cuisine and customer service.

Her attention to detail, hands-on approach, and commitment to the quality of her food sets her and Rose's Restaurant and Café apart from other Roadside Cafes and Eateries.

Tour groups are welcome. Large groups should call ahead or email with information on your arrival time and the number of persons in the group.
