Welcome to fun Friday of the Culture Days in Fuglafjørður

Start your day at Ribarhús with the newly opened art exhibition with seven local artists and the old shop with its locally-made handicrafts, open from 10 - 18.

There is no need to go hungry or do the cooking yourself during the Culture Days.
The coffee shop at Ribarhús opens at 11.30 with homemade soup for the early diners and homebaked cakes and good coffee until 18.00. The outdoor café at the small park has coffee, waffles and ice-cream from 16 - 18.

Try local restaurant Muntra, open 12 - 21, with its fish and local specialities, or the pop-up restaurant at the Culture House, from 15 - 21, with a choice of lamb or salmon in easy take-away servings.
Various food trucks also visit Fuglafjørður.

At the town hall from 16 - 18, there is an exhibition about Niels Midjord as a productive architect and quiet, yet persistent activist. The small Boat Museum in the basement of Ribarhús is also open from 16 - 18.

When it comes to music, you are in for a real treat!
At 20.00, there is a concert at the Culture House, where a band with local singer, Bárður á Lakjuni (also Faroe Islands' Minister of Culture) will sing songs by Cohen, originally translated, performed and released by Niels Midjord in 2013. Tickets can be bought online at mh.fo, or at the door, if any are left.
From this concert, you can continue to the school swimming pool for a Culture Days favourite - the free swimming pool concert, which starts at 22.00. Here you will hear former local, Lív Næs, who recorded an album of Alf Prøjsen songs together with Niels, sing songs together with her husband, Tróndur Enni.

At 22.30 the iconic Umbrella Street, another Culture Days favourite, comes alive with accordion music which, at 23.00, leads into a concert under the umbrellas with the popular Faroese band from the 80s Vestmenn, who will perform some of their all-time favourites as well as some of Midjord's songs. At midnight, the concert becomes a sing-along which may last until 1am.

There is also the option to visit the cocktail bar 'Barman from the North' at the Culture House, open from 18 - 02; go to the tent under Ribarhús, which serves Mojito or Gin Hass from 21 - 02 along with an 80s playlist; or visit the local bar 'etasjan', which has a pub quiz at 22.00 and live music from midnight. Or why not try 'Silent Disco,' from 23 - 02, in the tent between etasjan and the Culture House.
