Porkeris Bygdasavn
Discover the history and everyday life of Porkeri in earlier times
Porkeris Bygdasavn is housed in the old village school, built in 1888 and used as a school until the new school opened in 1984. Today, the historic building houses a local heritage collection of old objects, photographs and other material from the village.
The museum was established to collect and preserve historical objects and heritage from Porkeri and provide an insight into life in the village in earlier times. Its collection includes objects, photographs and written material.
The museum also includes the old property Í Eystrum, with a traditional dwelling house, grain-drying house and cowshed.
The museum can be visited by appointment.
