Saturday at Culture Days offers something for everyone

Saturday features some of the highlights of Fuglafjørður Culture Days.

Here is a selection of experiences for visitors:

Begin the day at 10 with a refreshing swim at the beach.

At 11, everyone can join in the creation of sand sculptures at the beach,

or cross the street to the popular food market to sample specialities from local fish product producers as well as other suppliers. Other stalls will offer the possibility to buy their specialities of various kinds.

From 11.15, the Faroe Islands' beach volley-ball championship finals will take place in an indoor beach volley-ball hall by the harbour. The women's final is at 15 o'clock, while the men's is at 16.

Throughout the day, the coffee shop at Gallery Ribarhús, Restaurant Muntra, the outdoor café in the park, the pop-up eatery at the Culture House and visiting food trucks will offer everything from traditional Faroese dishes to sweet treats and refreshments.

Or how about the Jambalaya pop-up eatery and live music programme in the Vintage Car building below Ribarhús? It is open from 17 - 22, with a 20 minute live music programme broadcast at 18, 19 and 20 o'clock.
This could be combined with a visit to the small Boat Museum, open from 14 - 18.

There is also plenty to choose from, when it comes to live music:

Visit the beautiful graphic design shop, FJORD, which celebrates its 10 year anniversary with coffee and cake, and an outdoor concert with the Faroese King of Country, Hallur Joensen, at 14 o'clock.

Or join a unique guided concert walk, 'Við Kingo og Cohen á flog', visiting three different houses for three different concerts, all bound together through the music and life of Niels Midjord. Book tickets at atgongumerki.fo.

At the Culture House, there will be an original theatre concert called 'Bingo!' which is a special event created only for the Culture Days: storytelling through Niels Midjord's most iconic and memorable songs, recreated by some of the Faroe Islands' most talented musicians! This theatre concert will only be performed Saturday at 20 and Sunday at 19. Book tickets at mh.fo

There is also the option to visit the cocktail bar 'Barman from the North' at the Culture House, open from 18 - 02; or a pop-up wine bar in the rowers' boat house from 20 - 02; or visit the local bar 'etasjan', which has a pub quiz at 21.00 and live music from 23.00. Or why not go to the tent under Ribarhús, which serves Mojito or Gin Hass from 22 - 03 along with 80s music; or try 'Silent Disco,' from 23 - 03, in the tent between etasjan and the Culture House.
